SIDEWALKS COMING TO LAKE SUZY ESTATES On Thursday, May 28 Lake Suzy residents attended a public meeting led by DeSoto Commissioner Buddy Mansfield and County Engineer Bart Arrington. The purpose of the meeting was to get input from us with respect to the County's plans to begin installing sidewalks in LSE. The sidewalks are part of a state mandate to develop a "DeSoto County Greenway, Bicycle and Sidewalk System" which will connect to a network coering the entire state. The LSE sidewalks will connect to the (soon to be) sidewalks constructed along Kings Highway in Charlotte County ending at the DeSoto County line at Courtly Manor. With our sidewalk, the first intercounty connection will be made. The sidewalk will begin at Kings Highway and Courtly Manor, turn and run along the lebgth of Kings Row. It then turns again running along Ben Drive to Sheri Avenue. From there it follows Sheri to Kings Highway ending across the street from the gas station. It almost completly surrounds our development. The project is moving forward with construction likely to begin in early 2010.
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH SIGNS POSTED Following Sheriff Wise's address to the membership at the LSPOA Annual Meeting on how a Neighborhood Watch could work in Lake Suzy Estates two signs were designed, approved, and posted within our community. One is posted on Courtly Manor next to the Community Bulletin Board and replaces the old sign. The other is posted on Ben Drive on the existing post holding the LSE Deed Restricted Community sign. The signs are to serve as a deterrent to any would-be criminal mischief. However, in the event any suspicious vehicles or criminal activity is sighted the sign displays the number to call: DeSoto Sheriff's Department: 743-6777 Sheriff Wise explained it is one of the most effective and least costly solutions to crime prevention. He emphasized that watch groups are not vigilante's and DO NOT assume the role of the Police. They only ask neighbors to be alert and observant and to report suspicious activity or crimes immediately to the Sheriff's office. TIME TO RECYCLE - DO YOUR PART A new recycle bin is in the area. From Courtly Manor go left onto KHW. Take 2nd right at The Preserve Golf & Racquet Club. Take 1st left and then another left. A large, green WM bin sits in the large lot.
